RUNNING FOR OTHERS ....

This post was going to be about mobility, how it's essential to our lives and yet still often taken for granted -- until my nephew Charlie Welsh stopped by my house last night in the midst of his 10 mile run in need of some cold water. The temperature was in the high 80's, as was the humidity, making it a tough night for my modest 3 miler ... yet, Charlie was heading back out to finish his remaining 5 miles.

Charlie is training for the NYC Marathon in November and is raising money for the charity Daniel's Music Foundation, which helps those with disabilities through the therapy of music. Sure he gets the benefits of the self-satisfaction of getting in shape and experiencing the excitement that comes with the NYC Marathon, but the motivation to get out for a 10 mile run in that heat and humidity comes from the desire to honor his commitment to help others.

There are so many athletes who raise money and/or give their time to help others who need help -- Victory Athletic supports and applauds those athletes!

Please consider donating to Charlie's efforts on behalf of Daniel's Music Foundation at fundraisers.hakuapp.com and another worthy organization, Achillesinternational.org, which also helps those with disabilities.
